Fall Restaurant Openings in Austin
If you live in Austin, you already know that the city is a food lover’s paradise. We have it all here, from American to Asian to Mexican – there is something for everyone. Beginning this fall, there will be a few extra somethings thanks to the anticipated opening of a number of new restaurants in the greater Austin area.
We don’t have the space to list all of them here, but below are a few suggestions that we think you should try out. It’s going to be an exciting few months as we await the arrival of our new restaurants and the reactions from patrons who decide to be among the first to try them.
Pizzeria Sorellina
Pizzeria Sorellina visited Austin as a pop-up in September to the delight of local foodies. Now the owners of the restaurant, Apis, will be setting up a permanent location in Spicewood. Pizzeria Sorellina will feature six different types of salumi along with complex pies customers will be able to customize to their liking. Chefs will offer an extensive list of choices including smoked kale, ‘nduja sausage, various exotic cheeses, and more.
Kuneho
The popular Qui restaurant owned and operated by celebrity chef Paul Qui closed in early September. But fans of the former establishment need not worry. Qui isn’t going anywhere; he is simply revamping his restaurant and reopening as Kuneho, an entirely Japanese establishment whose name comes from the Tagalog word for rabbit. Expect Kuneho to feature Asian favorites like fresh sushi and traditional small bites. The restaurant will open sometime in November.
Cannon & Belle
As long as we’re talking about replacing the old with the new, the former Finn & Porter space at the Downtown Hilton will be transformed into Cannon & Belle this fall. The restaurant will retain executive chef Peter Maffei, but this time the menu will focus on American cuisine with a fresh and flavorful twist. Customers will delight in trying exciting new pizzas, a unique grand slam breakfast pie, and more.
Eberly
Eberly will be a distinctive and elegant restaurant located on Lamarr Boulevard in Zilker. The owners are sparing no expense to create the perfect ambiance to complement fine American cuisine, cocktails, and beer. They’ve even gone so far as to purchase an exquisite bar that used to be housed by New York’s Cedar Tavern. Eberly is definitely a place you want to check out for an intimate tavern meal with someone special.
Grizzelda’s
A New Mexican eatery by the name of Grizzelda’s will be open this fall on Tillery Street. The team behind the restaurant is the same group responsible for Jacoby’s. Grizzelda’s will feature authentic dishes from central and coastal Mexico served either indoors or outside on the expansive patio.
Austin Daily Press
Austin Daily Press has already managed to put together quite a following thanks to their original restaurant on MLK Boulevard. A second location is slated to open in early November on E. Cesar Chavez St. This location will be similar to the original in some ways, completely different in others. For example, the theme at the new restaurant is Tex-Mex. An entirely new menu will be developed as well.
If you’re a fan of the food scene in Austin, the next several months could be pretty big. We invite you to get out there and try all of the new restaurants opening this fall. And if you find something you like, make sure you tell your friends about it AND complement the chef before you leave. Nothing is better for the restaurant business than happy customers willing to tell others.
