Top Happy Hour Destinations in Austin
There’s nothing quite like a solid happy hour to help you relax after a long day at the office. A good drink and the right atmosphere can help you forget about the stresses of the day so that you can truly relax. To that end, where you choose to go for happy hour can make all the difference.
Some people prefer a rowdy atmosphere with loud music, sports on the TV, and plenty of beer on tap. Others are looking for a more laid-back atmosphere complete with cocktails and appetizers. Fortunately, Austin has a large selection to choose from. There are great happy hour experiences for just about every preference.
Here’s a list of our top happy hour destinations in Austin for 2017:
Jeffrey’s
You may know Jeffrey’s as being one of the most exclusive and upscale places in Austin. It is. If you want to give the place a try without dropping a lot of money, try their daily happy hour. The bar sells drinks for just a couple of bucks, and you’ll have access to a menu of half-price appetizers. Happy hour at Jeffrey’s is laid-back and relaxed.
Contigo Austin
Regulars at Contigo Austin love the restaurant’s outdoor dining area that evokes images of a classic Mexican restaurant in your favorite local village. As for its happy hour, Contigo Austin features $2 cocktails and daily food specials – like fried chicken for just $1 on Thursdays. Each day, the meal and snack offerings change.
The Roosevelt Room
Spending some time at The Roosevelt Room may not actually increase your level of sophistication, but it will at least make you feel more sophisticated while you’re there. This contemporary but surprisingly non-stuffy bar features discounted mixed drinks and beers along with $2 wine glasses on four nights a week. A menu of light meals and snacks is also available.
Odd Duck
Odd Duck reminds us of what you might get if you combined an old-school Texas bar with a certain Boston establishment featured on a popular television sitcom in the 1980s. Their happy hour starts earlier than most, running from 2:30 until 6:30 PM. Odd Duck offers half-price beer and wine along with $5 draft cocktails. Their happy hour also features half-price shared plates to satisfy your late afternoon hunger.
Lenoir
Lenoir is the perfect choice if you prefer to experience happy hour in an outdoor wine garden. From 5:00 to 6:30 PM (Tuesday through Sunday) you can enjoy great wines and beers alongside tasty selections from the garden’s á la cart trailer. Happy hour at Lenoir is a lot like having all your friends over to enjoy drinks and appetizers in your own back yard. It’s a great place to hang out with friends.
Freedmen’s
If you’re looking for more of a pub experience rather than a lounge, check out Freedmen’s on San Gabriel Street. Freedmen’s is well-known throughout Austin for its incredible barbecue. For happy hour, they offer barbecue sandwiches for just $5 along with reduced-price drinks. Each month, they feature a new whiskey for just $3 a shot.
Cane Rosso
Lastly is Cane Rosso, a pizzeria with a decor from somewhere between Dallas and New York. Although you might not think of a pizzeria as a happy hour destination, Cane Rosso fits the bill. Their happy hour cocktails are just $5 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM daily. While you’re there, you can sample some of the great pizza as well.
Austin comes alive with great happy hour specials every evening. We hope you’ll try the places we’ve suggested. You’re sure to have a great experience.
